Description
When your fan’s running full-tilt even on cool mornings or your tractor starts running hot under load, it’s time for a new viscous fan clutch. This sophisticated design typically saves 5-10 horsepower during normal operation compared to a locked fan, while making sure your engine never overheats when you’re pulling hard or working in the heat. It’s one of those parts that works smarter, not harder.
What You’re Getting
- Temperature-activated coupling that engages the fan only when cooling is needed
- Automatic power savings during light work and cool weather conditions
- Progressive engagement that protects belts and bearings from shock loads
- Sealed construction that maintains proper calibration throughout its service life
- Direct replacement – no modifications needed for your 5400 or 6200 series tractor
Built for Real Farm Work
From the compact 3000 series (3095) through the popular 3600 series (3635-3690), versatile 5400 series (5425-5465), and powerful 6100/6200 series (6170-6290), plus 3100 series (3120-3125), this same critical seal serves them all. These tractors span from 70 to 180+ horsepower, handling everything from loader work to heavy fieldwork. Whether you’re baling hay on a hot summer day or doing light tillage on a cool spring morning, this clutch automatically adjusts to give you exactly the cooling you need.
Made to Last
Inside this viscous clutch is a precisely calibrated system using temperature-sensitive silicone fluid. When your engine is cold, the fluid remains thin, allowing the fan to slip and reducing the power draw to almost nothing. As operating temperature rises, the fluid thickens progressively, smoothly engaging the fan to provide exactly the cooling needed. The hermetically sealed design keeps that fluid clean and properly calibrated for years of reliable operation.
Installation Notes
Handle the unit carefully during installation – internal components can be damaged by impact or improper storage. Never turn the clutch upside down or store it on its side, as this can cause the silicone fluid to migrate. Check your fan blades for damage before installation, and make sure the radiator’s clean for proper airflow. The clutch should spin freely when cold but gradually engage as the engine warms up.
