Description
If you’ve spent any time running a chisel plow, you know how quickly points can wear down in tough conditions. Rocky fields, hardpan, and heavy residue can eat up regular spikes fast, leaving you with less effective penetration and higher replacement costs. This hardsurfaced reversible spike gives you twice the life by letting you flip it when one end wears down, plus the hard coating keeps it sharp longer.
What You’re Getting
- Hardsurfaced coating that resists wear and stays sharp through rocky and abrasive conditions
- Reversible design doubles your point life – just flip it over when one end gets worn
- 2-inch width provides good soil fracturing without excessive draft requirements
- 18-inch length gives you solid penetration for deep tillage work
- Pre-drilled 1/2-inch bolt holes match standard chisel plow mounting patterns
Built for Real Farm Work
This spike is designed for chisel plows used in primary tillage operations where you need to break through compacted soil layers and incorporate crop residue. Whether you’re preparing corn ground for next season or breaking up wheat stubble, the flat nose design gives you aggressive soil penetration while the hardsurfaced edge maintains its bite season after season.
Made to Last
The hardsurfacing process adds a tough wear-resistant layer that handles rocks, roots, and abrasive soils much better than standard carbon steel. At 5/8-inch thickness, this spike has the heft to handle heavy-duty tillage without bending or breaking, even in the toughest field conditions.
Installation Notes
This is a direct bolt-on replacement using standard 1/2-inch plow bolts with 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 inch spacing. When one end wears down, just unbolt the spike, flip it around, and bolt it back on – you’ll get a fresh cutting edge without buying a new part. Keep a few extra plow bolts handy since they tend to work loose in rocky conditions.
