Description
When your brake pedal starts feeling spongy or you have to pump it twice to get decent stopping power, you’re not just dealing with an inconvenience—you’re looking at a safety issue that needs fixing right now. This master cylinder is built specifically for early MF 300 series tractors that use LHM mineral oil instead of regular brake fluid. One emergency stop with a loaded implement behind you, and you’ll understand why getting this fixed is worth every penny.

Built for Real Farm Work
Your MF 300 series handles serious work—from pulling loaded grain wagons to operating on steep hillsides with heavy implements in tow. These tractors were built when farming meant heavy loads and long days, and reliable brakes aren’t optional. Whether you’re working rolling pasture or navigating farm lanes with a manure spreader, this master cylinder ensures you can stop when and where you need to.
Made to Last
Early 300 series MFs use LHM mineral oil because their brake slave cylinders are inside the rear axle housing—if a cylinder leaks, the fluid mixes with transmission oil, and DOT fluid would destroy your transmission. This master cylinder uses seals specifically designed for mineral oil compatibility. The precision-machined bore and specialized seal materials ensure long service life even under the temperature extremes and heavy use your tractor sees.
Good to Know
Before installation, clean the mounting area thoroughly and check your brake lines for damage. Bench bleed the new cylinder before mounting to remove air, and make sure you connect the brake lines to the correct ports—mixing them up affects brake balance. After installation, bleed the entire system starting with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. Many farmers successfully use clean 10W-30 transmission oil as an alternative to expensive LHM fluid, but never use DOT brake fluid.
